SAVING LIVES IS WHY!
In the United States, it is estimated that Sudden Cardiac Arrest outpaces deaths from breast cancer, prostate cancer, house fires, traffic accidents, and HIV combined. Yet there is hope. Over half the victims of the most common cause of SCA can survive when treated early with CPR and shock from a defibrillator.
What is an AED?
An Automated External Defibrillator or AED is a user-friendly portable electronic device designed to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a victim. An AED will treat the victim by administering an electrical shock stopping the arrhythmia and allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. AEDs are easy to use and with proper CPR training, they are highly effective at saving lives.
